Seahawks lose to the Dolphins

In a game that we should have won, the Seahawks fell to Ricky Williams and the Miami Dolphins 21-19 today. There were several key drops by the Seattle receiving corps in this game. One crucial Touchdown pass that was dropped by Koren Robinson and another key third down pass that was dropped by Keary "Butter-Fingers" Colbert. Keary Colbert has not been able to catch anything this year. They need Deion Branch healthy again so that Colbert can sit on the bench where the only thing he has an opportunity to drop is his Gatorade cup.

As a Seattle Seahawk fan this year, I am disgusted! The defense has finally been stepping it up the last couple of weeks and we can't do anything on offense. We aren't getting beat by other teams. We are beating ourselves! When our offense plays well, our defense takes the day off. When our defense plays well, our offense finds a way to lose the game. True, Hasselbeck is hurt. However, Wallace has been playing very well in his place. In the four games that he has started this year in Matt's place he has thrown for 669 yds with a 52.9% completion rate. He has also thrown for 5 touchdowns against only 1 interception. Those are good numbers! Most starting QB's in the NFL would like to have those kinds of numbers. Let's put this into percspective. If he were to keep this pace through an entire 16 game season, this is what his stats would look like:

  • 2,676 YDS, 20 TDs, 4 INTs

That's not quite on par with the Pro Bowl QB we are used to, but it's pretty damn good. With the way that our recievers are dropping balls out there, I don't think it make a bit of difference if it were Hasselbeck out on that field. The recievers HAVE to hold to onto the ball regardless of who is throwing it to them. Engram is always relaible. Koren can get us down the field, but can't seem to catch anything in the red zone and Colbert couldn't a ball if it were covered in Crazy Glue.

This year is obviously in the toilet. It's over. We are 2-7. The best we could do is 9-7, but let's be honest. That's just not going to happen. The Seahawks are going to end the year with 4 or 5 wins and end up with a top 5 draft pick. I personally believe that we need to go after BYU's Austin Collie. He's only a junior, but if he declares for the draft, we should do everything in our power to pick him up. He's a 6'2", 206lbs receiver with great hands and he's got better every year. Along with that move, I say we need to go get a veteran wideout with good down field speed and most importantly GREAT HANDS! We need to drop Branch and Colbert as soon as the season is over.
